Purple Cow (Color Mixing)

Introduction of Rhyme Purple Cow
I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one;
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one.
Sing Rhyme We repeated the rhyme several times.
Color Mixes I never saw a Red Cow,
I never hope to see one;
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one.IMG_3297[1]

Color Experiment To have a little fun with we did a science experiment. I unfortunately did not get any pictures, but the kids enjoyed mixing the colors and seeing the reaction.

I just turned my craft into a purple cow.

Rock-a-Bye Baby

Introduction of Rhyme Rock-A-Bye Baby
Traditional Rhyme We repeated the rhyme several times.
Call Response Rock-a-Bye Baby
Rock-a-bye baby
On the treetop
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall
And down will come baby
Cradle and allI would say one line and the crowd would say the next line. After we went though it once, we switched who said what line.I mentioned this is a great way to teach memory tactics.

Action Rhyme  Rock-a-Bye Baby
Rock-a-bye baby (rock back and forth)
On the treetop
When the wind blows (act like the wind)
The cradle will rock (rock back and forth)
When the bough breaks (start squatting)
The cradle will fall (fall to the ground)
And down will come baby
Cradle and all

I took my inspiration from one of her ideas, but I put my own spin on it. I liked that the kids would be able to “rock” their baby with this craft.
