Five Little Fishies

There were five little fishes
Swimming in the sea
Teasing Mr. Shark
You can’t catch me
Along comes Mr. Shark
As quiet as can be…
SNAP!
Four little fishes
Swimming in the sea

No More Fishies Swimming in the Sea

Actions Rhymes

Once I Saw an Octopus
Once I saw an octopus in the deep blue see (put hands over eyes, as if searching)
I called, “Mr. Octopus, won’t you swim with me?” (hands around mouth to call)
Then out came his tentacles, so very long and straight. (link thumbs with fingers out, as if making a bird shadow puppet, but make more of a circle for the head)
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 (count eight fingers)

I’m a Little Octopus
Arm #1 goes swish, swish, swish (swing arms back and forth)
Arm #2 helps me catch fish (wiggle hand back and forth)
Arm #3 pats my head (pat hand on head)
Arm #4 makes sure I’m fed (put hand to mouth)
Arm #5 swims me to shore (move arms in swimming motion)
Arm #6 touches the ocean floor (touch hand to floor)
Arm #7 can grab and tug (open and close hands)
But all eight arms give me a hug! (cross arms and hug yourself)

Critters in the Sea
Tune: The Wheels on the Bus

The sharks in the sea go chomp, chomp, chomp!
Chomp, chomp, chomp!
Chomp, chomp, chomp!
The sharks in the sea go chomp, chomp, chomp!
All through the day!

The fish in the sea go swim, swim, swim…
The lobsters in the sea go pinch, pinch, pinch…
The octopus in the sea go wiggle, wiggle, wiggle…
The sea horse in the sea rocks back and forth…
The whale in the sea goes squirt, squirt, squirt…
The clam in the sea goes open and shut…
The crabs in the sea go click, click, click…
The jellyfish in the sea go bloop, bloop, bloop…

Closing Goodbye Song

We Clap Goodbye Like This

We clap goodbye like this,
We clap goodbye like this,
With our friends at storytime,
We clap goodbye like this.

We wave goodbye like this…
We stomp goodbye like this…

Observations

The kids enjoyed this storytime and got a kick out of my puppet. I named him Fred. Initially, I was not going to walk around with him, but the kids really wanted to touch his teeth.
