Rhyming to Read – Dickery Dickery Dare

Welcome SongWelcome by Carole Peterson
Introduction to Nursery RhymeDickery Dickery Dare
Dickery dickery dare
The pig flew up in the air!
The man in brown
Soon brought him down,
Dickery Dickery Dare.
Pig YogaI started the program by doing some yoga inspired by these yoga pig cards I made.
Color RecognitionI would say the rhyme and when I got to “The man in _______” I would pull out a different colored man an the kids had to tell me what color the man was.
Action RhymeI handed out pigs on a popsicle stick. We repeated the rhyme but had the kids “fly” their pigs.
ParachuteI busted out the parachute and threw a stuffed pig on the parachute. I had the kids try to make the pig flew up in the air.

Rhyming to Read: Little Bunny Foo Foo

Welcome SongWelcome by Carole Peterson
Nursery RhymeLittle Bunny Foo Rhyme
Little Bunny Foo Foo
Hopping through the forest,
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping them on the head.

Down came the good fairy
And she said:
“Little Bunny Foo Foo
I don’t want to see you,
Scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.”

I’m going to give you two more chances,
And if you don’t behave,
I’m going to turn you into a goon!

Repeat!

Final Verse:
I gave you three chances
And you didn’t behave,
And now I’m going to turn you into a goon!
Poof!
Action RhymeHand out the mice. Repeat the rhyme but change out what action the bunny is doing to the mouse.
Dot Mark Activity – Animal RecognitionI created this worksheet. I then handed out dot markers and had the kids “bop” the mouse on the head each time we went through the rhyme.
Tracing ActivityI also created this worksheet. I handed out markers had the kids with their adults work on tracing lines.
SnackI put popcorn in mini Dixie cups and called it a bunny tail snack.
